The Fall Lipstick Edit

Fall is definitely the season where I find myself wearing lipstick the most often. I think I just like the way it looks better with fall clothing and I also just generally crave a bit more of a dramatic look when the weather starts getting cooler. While I do love wearing lipstick during the fall there are certain shades that I especially gravitate towards and today I'm writing about my picks from those color families.

The Berry - Glossier's Generation G in Jam is pretty much a year-round staple for me, however in the fall it gets used that much more. The color is a nice berry color, which can be worn both as a sheer popsicle-like stain or it can be built up into a more intense berry lipstick if you apply a few layers. I also love this Generation G for the texture. I get very dry, chapped lips when the weather gets colder and I find this to be a very comfortable, hydrating, and lightweight lipstick to wear. It is also very low-maintenance because when it wears off to a stain and can be easily re-applied sans-mirror.

The Red - I love a good red during the fall, especially with little to no eye makeup. However unlike Spring and Summer, I tend to be drawn to much richer, deeper reds and my go-to is the NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Cruella. This is a deeper blue-tone red that I think would be flattering on most skin tones. It is also an incredibly long-wearing and because of that I don't find the need to use a traditional lip pencil underneath as a base.

The Nude - While I do love dark, vampy lips for fall I also like to wear a reddish smokey eye from time-to-time and I find a nude lip is the best thing to wear with that during the day time. My favorite nude lipstick for fall is MAC Peach Blossom, which is a really natural peachy pink. I like this lipstick because not only is the formula very hydrating and comfortable but the color is not too-nude and the finish is not too glossy or matte.

What are your favorite lipsticks to wear in fall?
