Oldies But Goodies
As a self-professed beauty junkie I am constantly trying out new beauty products, and more often than not, a lot of my old favorites get put on the back burner while I try out those new exciting launches. That being said there are some products in my makeup collection that I will always have around and that I consistently go back to.
If there's any category of makeup that I am fussy about it's face powder. I don't often mention how fussy I am about them but believe me I am! Even though I have combination skin, I find the vast majority of powders to be too matte and either have zero coverage (which definitely has its place) or way too much coverage, to the point of being cakey. However the one powder that I always go back to is the MAC Mineralized Skinfinish Natural. To me, this powder just hits the sweet spot when it comes to what I look for in a face powder. It can be worn over foundation to set the makeup, it can also be worn on its own as a very light coverage powder foundation, and the finish is very skin-like and flattering.
Eyeshadows are one of those products where I could just constantly buy new ones and never find the need to stop (much to the detriment of my bank account). Therefore it makes it really difficult to use any one eyeshadow a lot because I just have so many of them. One eyeshadow I constantly go back to though is the Maybelline Color Tattoo in Bad to the Bronze. I always go back to this particular eyeshadow because cream eyeshadows are my favorite to use when I am in a rush but want some color on my lids. The formula of this particular cream eyeshadow is very long wearing and the color is the perfect mid-tone bronze shade.
I rotate my blush pretty frequently just depending on how my skin is looking and what other makeup I am wearing. Although there have been some amazing blush launches in the past year or two, I always find myself going back to NARS Deep Throat blush. Horrible name, but an absolutely beautiful shade and finish. I prefer NARS Deep Throat to NARS Orgasm because I find the shade to be much more flattering on my fair skin. The color is a beautiful peachy pink that doesn't lean too pink or too orange on my skin. There is also a gorgeous light golden shimmer running through the blush so you kind of get a highlight and blush all in one.
Another oldie but a goodie is MAC Syrup Lipstick, I remember this being the first wearable lipstick shade that I really fell in love with. Because I have very pigmented lips a lot of nude and wearable pink shades can make my lips look a little bit ashy, but Syrup does not. The lipstick looks straight up purple in the bullet but actually comes off as a really wearable plummy pink that I find looks good on a wide array of skin tones. The finish of this lipstick is also makes it one of the most comfortable lipsticks as it is really moisturizing.
