The Minimalist Travel Makeup Bag

Because I am lucky enough to be going to a college not too far from my hometown I am able to make some nice quick trips home on the weekends where I'm not too bogged down by homework and studying. But because I am only home for max three days I don't need to pack loads and loads of makeup. A few weeks back I made a quick trip home to see family that was coming into town and I really got my minimalist makeup bag down so I thought I'd give you a rundown of what it consisted of.

For starters, the bag is from a company called Breakups to Makeups and they make some of the cutest makeup bags out there. They are sold at Sephora and only cost about $15 and can fit both makeup and brushes because they are pretty long. The one I have was from the Christmas collection and is no longer available but the ones they do have now are still very cute.

Since my skin was behaving well I only needed to pack my Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer for any redness, the Bobbi Brown Corrector to get rid of any darkness under my eyes, and the MAC Mineralized Skinfinish Natural to set everything. As for blush I went with the Stila Convertible Color in Lilium as the color is super flattering and it doesn't require a brush because it is a cream formula. For brows I went for the Benefit Gimme Brow because it's kind of a do-it-all product, it gives my brows some color, thickens them slightly, and sets them in place, and is in super tiny packaging which is very handy for travel.

I kept the eye makeup super simple and went for products that didn't require brushes because I was lazy and just didn't feel like having to deal with them. I packed my two favorite cream eyeshadows, Benefit RSVP, which is a nice shimmery champagne color, and MAC Groundwork, a gorgeous mid-tone warm brown, perfect for those sepia toned makeup looks that I am currently loving. I also brought a travel-sized Urban Decay Primer Potion I had lying around to make sure neither eyeshadow would crease. As for mascara I went for the Tarte Gifted Mascara, which is a nice natural-looking yet volumizing mascara and MAC Teddy Eye Kohl in case I felt like I needed a bit more definition.

What are your weekend away essentials?
