February Favorites | 2015

Another month come and gone, so you guys know the drill, it's time for me to round up my favorite five products from this last month and I think I have a fair few new things to talk about this month! Before I get started with my favorites I just want to say that my skin had a major freak out this month (which always seems to happen around this time of year); it got really dry, almost to the point of eczema so I really had to pare down my skincare and face makeup to make sure that I wasn't making anything worse. One of the best products I found this month that helped get my skin back to normal was the First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream, it's a very thick rich cream designed for very sensitive skin. One of the main ingredients in the cream is colloidal oatmeal, which is extremely effective at calming and moisturizing the skin. Even though this is a very rich cream I found that it sunk in really fast, didn't leave a greasy residue, and was actually ok to use during the day underneath makeup.

My next two favorites are the foundation combo I've been using this month and that is the YSL Le Teint Touche Eclat Foundation and the MAC MSF Natural Powder. I've had the YSL foundation for about three months by now and am surprised that I am now first mentioning it on the blog because it is absolutely gorgeous. I love it especially when my skin is a bit more on the dry side because it doesn't cling to dry patches and it gives the most gorgeous glowy look to the skin without looking greasy or oily. I have switched out my usual Rimmel Stay Matte powder for the MAC option this month, because I find it a bit less drying than the Rimmel powder and because my skin has been so dry I really have only been needing to put some powder on my nose and chin (where I get most oily) and I find that the MAC MSF Natural feels a bit more comfortable on the skin when its in this kind of condition.

As for makeup, I've been keeping it really simple this month because I've hardly had any time in the mornings, mainly because I've been going to bed super late because of school and then choosing to sleep longer rather than spend a ton of time doing my makeup. Whenever I want a pared down look I always reach for the Clinique Chubby Stick for Eyes in Lot's O' Latte, which is a beautiful medium taupe color with a bit of shimmer. I literally just sweep this all over the eyes, blend out with fingers, put a few coats of mascara on and that's pretty much my eye makeup done.

Last but certainly not least is a new nail polish discovery and that is Essie Stylenomics, which I'm pretty sure came out in one of their Autumn/Winter collections a year or two ago. I like to think of this as the green version of After School Boy Blazer, in that it is a very very (almost black) hunter green with pretty much no shimmer. Of course since we're moving into Spring, I've been trying to get away with wearing as much dark nail polish as possible while we still are technically in Winter.

What have been your favorite products of the last month?
