My Travel Makeup Bag: The Weekend Away Edition

Over the weekend my boyfriend, friend, and I made a quick trip back home for a few days. Since we were only gone for a grand total of about 36 hours, my makeup bag didn't exactly have to contain and extensive array of products, and I tried as hard as I possibly could to strike a balance between having different options but also keeping things minimal.

For my base I chose my all-time favorite foundation Chanel   Aqua because not only is it the perfect amount of coverage for my skin at the moment (which has been very well-behaved lately), but the packaging is also perfect for travel: plastic and compact. As far as concealer went, I wanted something that would work both under the eyes and on blemishes and the Clarins Instant Concealer definitely fit the bill (there will definitely be a review/rave about this concealer coming up soon).

For eyeshadow I think eyeshadow in stick form is the best way to go for travel because 1) they're small and easy to store and 2) they don't require any brushes. I took the Clinique Chubby Stick For Eyes in Lots O' Latte, which is a great everyday taupe shade as well as the Charlotte Tilbury Color Chameleon in Bronzed Garnet, which is a gorgeous reddy-bronze shade. And then of course I had to include my favorite eyeliner: MAC Teddy Eye Kohl and my favorite mascara: L'Oreal Shocking Extensions Telescopic Mascara.

Finally for lip products I just brought the Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector in shade 5: Candy Shimmer, because most days I don't wear lipstick and just want a sheer wash of color. As for brows, I opted to bring along the Benefit Gimme Brow, because the packaging is dinky and it requires a whole lot less effort than a brow pencil or powder.

What are your favorite products to take on a short trip?
