My Morning Skincare Routine
If there's one word to describe my morning skincare routine it would be simple. I like to keep things pretty basic in the morning mainly because I simply don't have time to go through a long skincare ritual. While it is a pretty paired-down routine it is still effective. Here are the three steps I do every morning.
1. Cleanse: I think that cleansing is easily the most important step in a skincare routine. Every morning I cleanse with the Ren Clearcalm3 Clarifying Clay Cleanser, which is great if you have oily/acne prone skin because it is very clarifying without making your skin feel really stripped. I always use a flannel to rinse this off because I think that helps to get rid of any dead skin and it overall does a better job at cleaning off your face than rinsing the cleanser off with your bare hands.
2. Toner/Exfoliant: After I cleanse I use a toner/chemical exfoliant, my favorite being the Pixi Glow Tonic, to get rid of any dead skin. I find that chemical exfoliants are better than scrubs because they aren't as harsh and I actually think they do a better job at keeping flaky skin at bay. I use a chemical exfoliant in the morning because I find that it helps to make my face makeup look much better and apply nicer.
3. Moisturize: I like to use a light moisturizer in the morning because I normally wear face makeup and if I use something really rich it just gets to be a bit too much. I love the Kiehl's Ultra Facial Moisturizer because while it is really moisturizing, it is very lightweight and sinks into the skin pretty quickly.
Next week I will post my evening skincare routine which is considerably longer than my morning skincare routine.
