Sick Day Makeup
Oh boy has this week been a doozy: I spent about twelve hours in the car between Sunday and Monday, I had a ton of big assignments and tests this week, and to top it all off I got one of the worst colds I've had in a while. But out of something bad comes something good because being sick inspired me to write this post! I find that when I am sick, I look like I'm in absolute states: all the color drains from my face (what little color there was to begin with), my eyes tend to look a bit red and tired, and I just generally feel blah. I know makeup won't cure a cold but it certainly can make me feel a whole lot better about my appearance, which makes me feel less gross and groggy.
Rimmel Scandeleyes Eyeliner in Nude
As previously mentioned, when I get sick my eyes tend to get a bit red, especially my waterline. My go to product to fix this and to just generally brighten up my eyes is to use a nude eyeliner, my favorite being the Rimmel offering. I love how creamy the formula of these pencils are and they last an impressive amount of time on the waterline. I like using a nude rather than a white eyeliner because it looks far more natural and not as stark as white.
MAC Blush in Pinch o' Peach
One of my favorite items of makeup is blush, and that's because when I put on blush it instantly brings life to my face, something I especially lack when I am sick. My favorite shade for sick days is Pinch o' Peach by MAC because it is the perfect balance of pink and peach and somehow, even though it's matte, it makes the skin look so fresh and glowy.
I think eyelash curlers really are the secret weapon of makeup tools, especially on those days when you just feel like crap. They instantly open up the eyes and make you seem more awake and put together, even when skipping mascara. I find that when I'm sick I feel really tired and my eyes especially express this, so a good curl of the eyelashes is the must for me.
Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow in R.S.V.P
Whenever I'm sick, I don't quite have the energy to spend a lot of time doing some elaborate makeup look, but I still want to look fresh and put together. My favorite thing to slap on my eyes is the Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow in R.S.V.P, which is a gorgeous pinky-champagne color. I find that this shade does so much in terms of brightening my eyes and even though I literally just swipe it on, I feel like it looks pulled together and pretty.
