My Makeup Story

I decided that today I'd do something a bit different for today's post. Seeing as today is my birthday, I thought I'd look back on my history with makeup and tell you guys about why I love makeup and all things beauty related.

1. When did you begin loving makeup?
I remember admiring my mom's makeup from a very young age, probably around 5 or 6. I have some fond memories of going to Origins with my mom so she could repurchase her favorite lipstick and I remember looking at all the different eyeshadow colors and lipsticks and being completely captivated with all the different colors. I remember getting an eyeshadow palette from Claire's around 9 or 10 and I would experiment with putting frosty blue eyeshadow all over my eye lids (not such a great look), but that was mainly just for fun. I really fell in love with makeup after being in the school musical in 6th grade, around age 12, it was the first time I wore mascara and I remember thinking "wow this really changes the way my eyes look", being a redhead I have very fair eyelashes and seeing my eyelashes really stand out for the first time was pretty exciting. I started wearing makeup regularly around 8th grade when I was about 13.

2. How do you feel without makeup?
In high school I really didn't like seeing me without makeup on, especially mascara, because I thought I didn't look good without it. As I've gotten older, especially being in college, I have become more and more comfortable not wearing makeup and this directly correlates with my skin getting clearer. I have learned to love and embrace my fair eyelashes, so now I really don't mind leaving the house without mascara.

3. What do you like about makeup?
My favorite thing about makeup is the discovery aspect of it, playing around with different colors and textures is really fun and exciting. I think makeup is a natural extension of your personality and another way to express yourself. I love that things are always changing in the makeup industry and their are always new products, trends, and techniques to try out.

4. Three Holy Grail items?
Wow that's a loaded question, I'd probably have to pick a mascara (L'Oreal Telescopic Shocking Extensions is my favorite at the moment), NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer, and Benefit Dandelion Blush.
