The Red Lipsticks
A few months back I did a post about my favorite "My Lips But Better" lipsticks, and I figured I would do a similar post but this time on my favorite red lipsticks in my collection. I love red lips, I think they are incredibly sophisticated and feminine, but they can be a bit intimidating. I personally like to have a few kinds of red lipsticks for different occasions.
The Bright One ~ Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Cherries in the Snow
Depending on your skin tone, this lipstick can be quite a strong bright cherry red or a bright raspberry pink. Because I have fair skin, this lippy tends to lean more on the raspberry side for me. Nonetheless it is a gorgeous color and a great pick if you want something bright but sophisticated.
The Classic One ~ NARS Matte Velvet Lip Pencil in Cruella
This is definitely the most classic of all of these red lipsticks and it is without a doubt the most long-lasting. If you are going on a night out and want to wear a red lipstick, this is a great choice because it is fuss-free (no lipliner needed!), lasts for ages, and it packs quite a punch, it is definitely the quintessential blue-based red.
The Moisturizing One ~ Revlon Lip Butter in Red Velvet
If you find that you get very dry lips, then this Revlon Lip Butter is a great option for you. Obviously, because it is quite moisturizing it doesn't have amazing longevity on the lips, but the color is a beautiful berry-red and it feels like a lip balm to apply.
The Everyday One ~ MAC Lipstick in Brick-O-La
I know a lot of people aren't at all comfortable wearing a red lip in everyday life, but I think that if you find the right shade, a red lip can look quite nice and not too in-your-face. Brick-O-La is the perfect "everyday red" shade because it isn't super blue toned so the color isn't super intense. Rather, it is more of a terracotta/brick toned red and the formulation isn't super matte so it is comfortable to wear on lips.
