A Makeup Guide for Gingers: Cheeks

For the second installment of the Makeup Guide for Gingers I am covering the best 5 favorite blushes for all of you redheads out there.

Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Natural Beauty

For a bright blush for fair skin, there is nothing (in my opinion) that competes with the Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Natural Beauty. This strawberry-pink blush looks great on redheads because it is the type of color that most fair-skinned people blush naturally. Although this blush looks quite intimidating in the pan, you can apply it very lightly for a very natural flush (I recommend the Real Techniques Stippling brush to apply this blush).

NARS Deep Throat

When it comes to redheads and peach blush I think that there is a very delicate balance between finding a blush that is just peachy enough without being orange, and I think NARS Deep Throat strikes that balance perfectly. This blush contains the perfect amount of peach and pink tones, perfect for lighter skin tones. The slight golden shimmer also does wonders for fair complexions because it adds a glow to the face without showing up as straight up gold glitter on your face (as I have found some highlighters do).

Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Dollface

Although this is a recent purchase, this blush has quickly become one of my favorites. I think this is a great everyday blush for gingers because it is the perfect shade of light baby pink, and is super flattering on fair skin tones (it is basically a slightly more pigmented version of Benefit Dandelion).

MAC Tenderling Blush

Brown-toned blushes are the trickiest shade for gingers to pull off because it is so easy for them to come off very muddy-looking. MAC Tenderling is the exception to that rule, with the perfect balance of peach, pink and brown tones, this blush is a perfect neutral/brown shade without appearing muddy on the skin. If you aren't into peach or pinks, but still want something to define your cheekbones I would definitely say that this blush is perfect for you!

Benefit Dandelion

I will forever have a special place in my heart for Benefit's Dandelion, because this was the first blush that I ever bought. This blush is a super light pink and really only shows up as a blush on very light skin tones. If you are just starting out with makeup and you are a redhead or have very fair skin I would recommend this blush for you because it is super easy to apply and you will never have to worry about looking like a clown if you apply too much of this blush.

What is your favorite blush for your hair/skin color?

xx Hannah

  2. One of my favorite ginger bloggers just wrote an article for the Huffington Post with some great tips for cosmetics for redheads. She didn't mention any blushes, so I'm glad you have some suggestions!
